Piercing aftercare
After getting a piercing, it’s important to take care of it to ensure proper
healing and to avoid infections. Follow our aftercare tips.
- Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching or cleaning the piercing.
- Clean the piercing twice a day with saline solution (1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in 240 ml of warm water), or you can easily buy ready saline solution in small one time patches in Farmacy.
- Avoid using alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, as they can dry out the skin and slow the healing process.
- Do not touch the piercing or jewelry more than necessary. This can cause irritation and infection.
- Do not use perfumes, lotions, or other chemical products near the piercing.
- Avoid swimming in pools, lakes, or the ocean, as the water can contain bacteria that can cause infections.
- Only change the jewelry once the piercing is fully healed. Consult with a piercing specialist about the appropriate time to change the jewelry.
- If you notice signs of infection (severe redness, swelling, pus discharge), consult a doctor or piercing specialist.
Healing time for piercings can vary depending on the location and individual factors, but generally ranges from a few weeks to several months.
